Covid-19 Update

Ribble Valley 10k Road Race Statement

It is with much regret that we have to postpone our ever popular race on the 27th December 2020 to next year.

The County of Lancashire has been under tier 3 restrictions and now we will have a national lockdown until early December at least. This has meant our facilities at Edisford Bridge have had to make operational changes due to their own covid-19 regulations, meaning the venue is no longer practical for us to use. This is the location where we have our event village, toilets and car parking.

We have looked at possible alternative solutions but some of you will be aware of the narrow nature of the start and finish area at Edisford Bridge in Clitheroe. This, combined with social distancing regulations and the loss of the space provided by our Edisford Bridge facility makes our ability to stage the event impossible. As a result we have made the difficult decision to postpone until next year.

We are a volunteer organised event. All the finances raised (after the cost of holding the event) go directly to the funding of the volunteer run Blackburn Harriers & Athletic Club for the year. As a result of the costs, including the expensive road closures involved in organising a race that averages 1500 finishers, we cannot make it viable by reducing numbers substantially. We, like you, would rather be holding the event this year but unfortunately we will not be able to do so.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your racing schedule.

We will return in 2021 with a provisional date of Bank Holiday Monday 27th December 2021.

All current entries have been notified via email. If you have any questions please email [email protected]

We look forward to seeing you back with us next year and hope you all have a safe Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Best wishes,

The Blackburn Harriers Race Organising Committee
