Ribble Valley 10k

ALL RACE INFORMATION APPLICABLE FOR THE 2022 EVENT- UPDATED 2023 DETAILS WILL BE RELEASED CLOSER TO THE DATE OF THE RACE.

Start Time: 10am

PLEASE NOTE: The roads within the course will be closed at 9:15am so please make sure you leave plenty of time to get parked up and get to registration if you have to pick up your number on the day, however most runners will have race packs sent in the post. If you choose to park towards the Town Centre, be aware to give yourself plenty of time, as the Town Centre is approx. 1 mile away.

 

Race Packs

If you’ve entered before the 9th December you should receive your race pack in the post.

If you entered after this date (or haven’t received your race pack in the post before the race), please make your way down to the collection desks on the Morning.
It will take around 15-20 minutes to collect your number, so please arrive early.

You will only need one number attached to the front of your shirt.

Your timing chip will be attached to the bottom of your race bib and needs to be attached to your shoe as per the instructions on the back of the chip. Please make sure you keep your number on at all times during the race.

At the finish, you can dispose of your chip (we do not need to collect them back).

**We are aware many Race Packs may not have reached you with the royal mail strikes and back log.
Please don’t panic, if your name is on our entry list we will have a new bib number available for you on the day.**

 

Northern 10k Road Championships

This year the race once again hosts the Northern 10k Road Championships. There is no need to formally enter. If you are eligible under Northern Rules you will be automatically entered into the Championships.

If you haven’t stated your Club when entering, please let us know prior to the 23rd December, so we can ensure your entry is linked up- You can check your club  on the Entry List HERE

 

​During the race

At the start of the race, there will be a separate pen area for those athletes who have the qualifying time for the Elite Race. All other runners will assemble behind that Pen. ALL runners MUST be in place to start the race by 9.50am. The barriers will be removed and the field walked forward to the Start line at 10:00am.

A lead vehicle will head the race. There will be marshals all around the course and there will be km distance signposts along the course. It is a 1 lap course, see course map HERE.

Water will be available at the end of the race and at the 5k mark on the course.

Medical cover will be provided by Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team who will have a vehicle training the back of the race and a station at the Start/Finish area.

 

Toilets and Changing facilities

Female Runners – Toilets/Showers/Changing – these are available in the Swimming Pool Building next to the Roefield Leisure Centre.

Male Runners will change in the Football Pavilion immediately outside the Roefield Leisure Centre – There will be portable toilets on site situated on the Main Car Park.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD TOILETS IN THE LEISURE CENTRE BE USED BY RUNNERS

 

Travel/Getting There

The race will be traffic free and all roads will be closed at 9:15am, 45 minutes before the race is due to start at 10:00am. The roads within the course will be closed from 9:15am so please make sure you leave plenty of time to get parked up and get to Registration if you have to pick up your Number on the day. If you choose to park towards the Town Centre, be aware to give yourself plenty of time, as the Town Centre is approx. 1 mile away.

These are the roads affected:

B6243 Bawdlands, Edisford Road and New Lane from Lancaster Drive through to B6243 Whalley Road, Great Mitton. This included the junctions of B6243 with Edisford Road (U22901) and Clitheroe Road (C573).

Clitheroe Road (C573) from its junction with B6243 Edisford Road through to Clitheroe Lane(C574), Bashall Eaves. This includes the junctions of Clitheroe Road with BASHALL Lane, Twitter Lane and Birdy Brow.

Clitheroe Lane (C574), Bashall Eaves to its junction with B6243 New Lane, Great Mitton. This includes its junction with Birdy Brow.

 

Car Parks

Car Parking will be at a) the school near the start of the race approx 3-400 metres away; b) on the public car park adjacent to Roefield Leisure Centre Centre which is Pay & Display; c) on the right hand side of Edisford Road approaching the Leisure Centre and d) on the Lane leading to the Caravan Park site opposite the Leisure Centre.

Marshals will direct all cars approaching the Race Registration area to the relevant car parking. All other car parking will be outside the confines of the Race Course and is located within the Town Centre.

Please also note that no cars will be able to exit the main car parks (across from the Registration area at the Leisure Centre) until the last runner has finished.

Cycle racks are available at the leisure centre. Please ensure you do not lock your bike to anywhere other than the designated areas.
After the Race

When you finish the race, please pick up your medal and water and leave the Finish area as soon as you can to avoid congregations of large numbers.

 

Results and Presentation

RaceTimers.co.uk will be doing the Timing on the day and the contact address for enquiries is [email protected]  – Results will be on-line the same day. Results will be available on www.ribblevalley10k.com/results/ after the race.

Prize presentation for the Open Race and all categories as well as the Northern Championships Medals will take place immediately all the results are through in the Main Hall and presented by John Bennett on behalf of Forbes Solicitors (https://www.forbessolicitors.co.uk/) – the Races main sponsors. All Prizes – Over £2230.00 – Will be paid in Cash.

We will have a photographer taking a few snaps of the race and they will be on our Facebook page after the race so be sure to check it out and see if you can spot yourself.

 

Refreshments

A catering Van will be sited on the Car Park for Food & Drinks and the Leisure Centre will be serving hot and Cold drinks in the Reception area.
